Indiana Newspapers, TV Station, Digital Company Part of Media Merger The media properties involved include The Herald Bulletin in Anderson

More than a dozen newspapers, a television station and a digital broadcasting company involved in a planned media merger have a presence in Indiana. Raycom Media Inc. and Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., both based in Montgomery, Alabama, have announced an agreement that would involve CNHI operating as a Raycom subsidiary.

The companies did not immediately disclose financial terms of the deal. Raycom’s footprint includes 65 television and 2 radio stations in 20 states. CNHI is the owner of over 110 newspapers, websites and publications in 22 states. Raycom Media President Pat LaPlatney says "quality local journalism is the foundation of Raycom Media and CNHI. This transaction will strengthen both organizations’ local content-generation efforts, as well as monetization capabilities, while positioning the combined entity for future growth and superior service to our clients and audience."

The media outlets involved include:

  • Raycom- WFIE-TV in Evansville
  • Tupelo-Raycom, a digital broadcasting company with an office in Indianapolis that was created with the 2015 merger of Indianapolis-based WebStream Sports and Raycom-owned Tupelo-Honey.
