The Indiana National Guard has announced a series of leadership changes throughout the state. Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh will see a new leader as Col. John Silva takes over as commander on June 1.
Silva will be responsible for all installation support activities. He is replacing Col. Richard Shatto, who will serve in a newly-created position as deputy chief of staff to the director of the joint staff at Join Force Headquarters-Indiana.
"These moves leverage the great talent these officers possess," said Indiana Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Courtney Carr. "These moves will allow them to build upon their demonstrated capabilities and current skillsets, while developing them for positions of even greater responsibility in the Indiana National Guard."
Col. Felicia Brokaw will take over as deputy United States Property and Fiscal Officer, who is responsible for the accounting of federal funds and property, oversight of contracting activities and general review audits. Brokaw, who is replacing Silva in that role, will begin June 1.
Lt. Co. Dan Degelow will assume command of the 38th Combat Aviation Brigade in Shelbyville on May 1. Lt. Col. Marcus Thomas will take over as joint director of logistics at Joint Force Headquarters-Indiana on June 1. He will be responsible for resourcing logistical support for the Indiana National Guard.
