A notice posted to the Indiana Motorsports Association website says it is “no longer in operation,” effective immediately. Executive Director Tom Weisenbach has served in the position since 2006. Weisenbach helped create and present the International Motorsports Industry Show, which began in 2009 in Indianapolis. The Specialty Equipment Market Association acquired the event in 2012 and combined it with the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show, which has signed a long-term deal to continue on annually in Indianapolis.
The group's mission was to “unite motorsports-related businesses and drive economic growth” in the industry statewide. It was a connection between teams, tracks, manufacturers and suppliers, as well as what it called “indirect service organizations” such as financial, legal, shipping and communications interests.
A statement posted to the organization's website reads: “The Indiana Motorsports Association would like to thank the members and the industry for all of their support since 2008.
Effective immediately, the Indiana Motorsports Association is no longer in operation.”
