The 2018 Volunteering in America report ranks cities and states by the number of volunteers.
The organization says more Americans than ever are volunteering, with over 77 million adults volunteering through an organization in 2018. Indianapolis is ranked 6th in the nation with a 43.3 percent rate of volunteerism.
The state of Indiana was ranked 20th with over 1.8 million volunteers who contributed 166.5 hours of service worth an estimated $4 billion. The top 10 volunteering cities and states include:
