The Indiana Department of Insurance has promoted Amy Beard to general counsel. She has been with the department since 2013, serving as legal counsel. Beard provided legal support on insurance matters to all divisions within the agency and supervised the department’s role in acquisitions of Indiana domestic insurance companies. She served as the final reviewer of insurance holding companies’ filings of material transactions and provided legal review for all financial division recommended actions regarding licensing, renewals, and registrations of insurance companies and other regulated entities.

Beard holds the designation of Associate Professional in Insurance Regulation from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. She serves as a director for the University of Southern Indiana Foundation board of directors. She earned her J.D. from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, after earning her undergraduate degrees in economics and Spanish from the University of Southern Indiana.
