The United States Postal Service is marking a milestone today with the opening of the Greater Indiana District's 50th Village Post Office. Spokeswoman Mary Dando says the West Lafayette location is another sign that smaller communities are ideal for the relatively new concept, because many small traditional post offices have closed. She says Indiana is “without a doubt” ahead of the pack in the village post office trend.

Dando tells Inside INdiana Business the sites allow the postal service to expand its footprint without significant cost and increase foot traffic in their host businesses.
