A nearly $1 million grant will extend a telehealth initiative that has a presence in Indiana and three neighboring states. The Indiana Rural Health Association was the lead applicant for the three-year grant to the Upper Midwest Telehealth Resource Center, which provides technical and educational programs in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio. The funding is from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration.

IRHA Executive Director Don Kelso says "UMTRC represents a key player in expanding and supporting much-needed telehealth expansions and operations, especially in rural areas. UMTRC focuses on increasing awareness and use of telemedicine and telehealth regional expansions.
