(NYSE: WLP) says its iPad app and website allow users to virtually try different styles of glasses before making a purchasing decision. WellPoint obtained the Glasses.com domain as part of last year's multi-million dollar acquisition of 1-800-CONTACTS Inc. Public Relations Director Gene Rodriguez showed off the technology with Barb Lewis in the Business of Health. WellPoint did not announce the value of the 1-800-CONTACTS purchase, but at the time the deal The Wall Street Journal estimated it could be a $900 million acquisition.WellPoint has a patent on the technology, which can accomplish its goal in seconds as opposed to a couple days by previous post-production standards in Hollywood.
