A Chesterton-based company that makes meals with real food for people on feeding tubes has landed a more than $500,000 boost. Real Food Blends launched its line of shelf-stable pouches last year and has already partnered with Indiana University Health Home Care and Medline Industries Inc., an Illinois-based medical supply distribution business. During a March interview on Inside INdiana Business Television, Founder and Chief Executive Officer Julie Bombacino described how the company was started. Real Food Blends started as a direct-to-consumer service, but Bombacino says the biggest growth has come from customers that have been able to get orders of the food pouches paid for through insurance.

The company works with the fulfillment center at Easter Seals Crossroads in Indianapolis to distribute the food pouches.
