The Indiana Association of Cities and Towns has honored five communities for their roles in completing major projects. Winners include Jeffersonville for the Big Four Bridge and Monticello for an emergency notification system for persons with disabilities. The cities were recognized at the organization's annual conference this week in Fort Wayne. The winners are:

Community Achievement Award

Jeffersonville – 20,000-50,000 population category – Big Four Bridge Project

Lafayette – more than 50,000 population category – Durkees Run Stormwater Park project

Monticello – fewer than 10,000 population category – emergency notification system for persons with disabilities

Vincennes – 10,000 to 20,000 population category – Rainbow Beach Family Aquatic Center.

Local Government Cooperation Award

Shelbyville – Project IMPaCT, which was a science, technology, engineering and math initiative with Shelby County and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and the effort to replace the Shelby County Fair grandstands
