Indiana Communities Advance in Main Street Contest

Three Indiana communities have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Independent We Stand "America’s Main Streets" contest. The Main Street districts of Jeffersonville, Peru and Logansport are among 25 communities continuing to vie for the $25,000 grand prize.
The public continues to vote for the top Main Street district, with voting for 10 semifinalists ongoing until May 26. Jeffersonville’s Main Street includes a mix of businesses, including the 128-year old Schimpff’s Candy Shop.
“We’re thrilled that Jeffersonville Main Street has made it to the quarterfinals in America’s Main Street Contest again, said Jay Ellis, Executive Director of Jeffersonville Main Street. “So many people have worked to revitalize Downtown Jeffersonville, and we are thankful to all the people who voted for us in this contest. Now we’re asking everyone to keep voting so we can make it to the top 10 in the nation with hopes to earn the top spot.”
The winner of the 2019 “America’s Main Streets” contest will be announced June 3 followed by a “Main Streets Make Us Better” celebration on the Fourth of July, when the winner will announce how the prize money will be used.
