Indiana casino revenue down for fourth straight month

Indiana casino revenue is down for the fourth consecutive month, according to the Indiana Gaming Commission.
The state’s 12 casinos reported $183.6 million in revenue in June, down 2.7% from June 2022. In May, revenue totaled $186.2 million, down 7.6% from the year before.
Analysts from PlayIndiana.com report casinos near the Illinois and Ohio borders saw greatest declines, possibly a symptom of greater competition after Indiana’s neighbors in Ohio legalized sports betting this year.
Gary’s Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana, opened in 2021, saw an increase of almost $3 million compared to last June, while Hammond’s Horseshoe Casino saw a drop of nearly $6 million in revenue year-over-year.
To the south, Hollywood Lawrenceburg reported a decrease of about $1.5 million in year-over-year earnings this June.
June adjusted gross revenue by casino were reported to the Indiana Gaming Commission as follows:
- Ameristar Casino in East Chicago: $15.8 million
- Bally’s Evansville: $13.5 million
- Belterra Casino in Florence: $7.4 million
- Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City: $9.5 million
- Caesars Southern Indiana in Elizabeth: $18.3 million
- French Lick Resort: $6.5 million
- Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana in Gary: $20.8 million
- Harrah’s Hoosier Park in Anderson: $16 million
- Hollywood Lawrenceburg: $12.2 million
- Horseshoe Hammond: $22.5 million
- Horseshoe Indianapolis: $23.6 million
- Rising Star Casino in Rising Sun: $4 million
