News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — Kent Abernathy, Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), announced that a new General Counsel, Adam Krupp, is starting with the BMV today.

Krupp grew up in Plymouth, Indiana and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Purdue University and his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law—Indianapolis. He most recently comes to the BMV from New York City and Atlanta, Georgia where he was a senior associate for Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman, LLP. He also previously served as Deputy Director and In-House Counsel for the State of Indiana's Division of Family Resources.

“Our new General Counsel has experience in a broad range of commercial litigation matters including intellectual property, securities and regulatory investigations,” said Abernathy. “His background and knowledge will, without a doubt, help the BMV advance toward our overall goals.”

Krupp has also completed a judicial clerkship within the Indiana Court of Appeals and served as adjunct professor of law at Indiana University.

The BMV also recently hired new Chief Information Officer (CIO) Chris Riester, whose first day with the agency was May 11. Riester is a Michigan City native and has extensive experience in IT and business. He has most recently worked for Ativio, LLC, an international technology consulting firm, where he served as President and CEO since the company was founded in 2007.

“These changes in leadership are examples of what the BMV is doing to make improvements to the agency as a whole,” said Abernathy. “These are the next steps in making the Indiana BMV the most efficient and trustworthy motor vehicle agency in the country.”
