Spaulding, who previously served as vice president of government affairs for the organization, succeeds Lynne Peterson, who has retired from the role.
Spaulding joined the IAA in 2019 after serving in multiple roles for former Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, including general counsel and deputy chief of staff.
A graduate of Purdue University, Spaulding is a licensed attorney in Indiana and Michigan.
“I am grateful to IAA’s executive committee and IAA’s board of directors for the opportunity to serve as the next President and CEO,” Spaulding said in a news release. “I am appreciative and inspired by the remarkable job and legacy Lynne leaves behind after 35 years of service.”
Peterson spent 35 years with the organization, including the last 25 as president and CEO. The IAA said Peterson helped grow the organization’s membership, expand educational opportunities, and advance legislation to support the industry.
“In this era, finding someone who dedicates their career to an organization for 35 years is increasingly rare,” said IAA Board Chair Sandy Carmin. “On behalf of IAA’s board of directors, we are forever grateful for Lynne’s service to our industry, and we look forward to Brian’s leadership.”
Peterson will continue to serve as a senior advisor in 2025 to aid the organization during the transition.
The Indiana Apartment Association represents more than 286,000 professionally managed apartments statewide in legislative, legal and regulatory matters.
