A series of Indiana food retailers are getting resources to better showcase their products on a national scale.
Agriculture marketing firm Indiana Grown announced last week that it’s giving seven companies a $25,000 grant that can cover booth fees, travel expenses and other costs associated with trade shows. Indiana Grown says trade shows where producers are able to talk to potential clients face-to-face are an important avenue for sales.
Indiana Grown is administered by the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. The organization says it has over 1,500 members, but the seven grant recipients were awarded to businesses with commercially-ready products who want to expand.
Awarded grantees include:
- Tell City Pretzels from Tell City
- Tulip Tree Creamery from Indianapolis
- Bee Great from Churubusco
- Cute as a Cupcake from Merrillville
- Smoking Goose from Indianapolis
- Market Square Popcorn from Indianapolis
- Old Major Market from Indianapolis
Indiana Grown says Tulip Tree Creamery and Smoking Goose will use the grant to attend the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City. The other award recipients will go to the National Restaurant Show in Chicago and the Snacks and Sweets Expo in Indianapolis.
