Indian Company Picks Columbus For North American HQ
The company said last month it plans to launch operations by April.
An executive with an India-based engineering company planning to establish its North American headquarters in Columbus is touting Indiana’s work force. Vice Chairman Sudhakar Gande says AXISCADES will "leverage the availability of skilled engineering talent in Indiana" to fill an expected 500 openings by 2023. AXISCADES, which announced plans to locate in Indiana, expects to create up to 100 jobs within the first year of operation as part of a $10 million investment. The company says it also plans to establish satellite offices throughout the state for customer-focused engineering teams.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says AXISCADES will initially lease space at 810 Brown Street in Columbus that will serve as its North American headquarters and house management functions. Gande adds Indiana offers a central location and a strong pro-business environment.
"The advanced manufacturing and high technology environment in Indiana also provides a key element in our selection," Gande said in a news release. "We are excited to leverage the availability of skilled engineering talent In Indiana as well as the state’s strong education system to meet the growing skill demands of the future."
AXISCADES provides product engineering solutions for companies in the aerospace, defense, heavy engineering, automotive, energy, medical and health care sectors. The company says it will also locate engineering associates at its clients’ facilities throughout the state.
IEDC is planning to offer the company up to $4.3 million in conditional tax credits and up to $500,000 in training grants. An additional $1 million in incentives will also be considered to support infrastructure needs for the project. The city of Columbus has offered up to $50,000 in performance-based incentives as well.

The commitment by AXISCADES to locate its North American headquarters in Indiana was announced during Governor Eric Holcomb’s economic development trip to India.
