Incentives Approved For Major Anderson Projects

The Anderson City Council has approved tax abatements for four major projects totaling more than $110 million. Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report the projects include three new companies locating in Anderson and an expansion of the Nestlé USA campus in the Madison County city.

Nestlé received a six-year, 65 percent tax abatement for the $80 million expansion announced in December. The company, which currently employs 750 people in Anderson, plans to add 30 jobs paying an average annual salary of $75,000. 

The council also approved a seven-year, 50 percent real property tax abatement and a seven-year, 60 percent personal property tax abatement for Fort Wayne-based Tippmann Group’s $30 million cold storage warehouse facility in the city. The 250,000-square-foot building, which will be operated by Tippmann subsidiary Interstate Warehousing, is expected to employ 60 people when it opens in August. 

Crews broke ground on the facility in November. The company says the warehouse will eventually cover 1 million square feet and employ 200 people.

The council also give final approval to a 10-year tax abatement for Indianapolis-based Storage of America to move its corporate headquarters to the former Warner Press building near Anderson University. The company will invest nearly $1 million in the move, which will create 15 jobs.

Finally, Anderson-based Ark Developments has received a five-year tax abatement to invest nearly $1 million in a new corporate office building at the Flagship Enterprise Center.
