Project 100 includes improvement to technology, seating and entryways as well as new hospitality options.
Tuesday’s event is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Yard of Bricks. Boles will also make a special presentation to three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves.
IMS says seat renovation will focus on the upper deck of the frontstretch into Turn 1 and include stadium seating and better sightlines. That may include raising the roof, which the speedway says will provide the opportunity for additional seating.
The Speedway is also eyeing the possibility of converting the Hulman Suites into a club giving fans access to a semi-private area for food and beverage service. IMS leaders say the facility could also provide space for special events throughout the year. There are currently 27 individual suites and more than 2,000 suites in Hulman Suites.
IMS is also putting a focus on Gate 1, which welcomes thousands of fans each year. In addition to upgarding the look of the facility’s "front door," Speedway leaders say they will also ensure people can move in and out quickly and safely.
Late last year, IMS announced it would host the inaugural Red Bull Air Race Championship, which Boles says is intended to become a long-term partnership. He says the future of the high-speed airplane event will ultimately depend on how it resonates with fans.
