The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has announced a first-ever opportunity for race fans at the INDYCAR Grand Prix in May. IMS will offer spectator camping for recreational vehicles and tents in the infield of the famed 2.5-mile oval.
Several camping spots adjacent to the infield portion of the IMS road course will be set up for RVs and tents. The speedway says Verizon IndyCar Series drivers will make surprise visits to the camping areas during the weekend that kicks off the Month of May activities at IMS.
"Camping is an essential part of the race weekend for so many of our loyal fans, and we’re excited to introduce outstanding infield camping opportunities including spots for tents and RV’s during the INDYCAR Grand Prix," said IMS President Doug Boles. "Camping inside IMS is the perfect way to get as close to the action as possible while enjoying a great time with family and friends."
The camping will take place Thursday, May 11 through Saturday, May 13. IMS says prices for three-night camping will be $125 per tent spot and between $150-$300 for each RV spot. General admission tickets for the INDYCAR Grand Prix for Friday and Saturday are required for all infield campers ages 16 and older.
