Speedway officials removed the 97-foot-tall scoring pylon Monday on the main straightaway. A new digital version is set to be installed over the next week. It's part of an estimated $140 million that has been approved for improvements to the more than century-old venue.
Other plans underway related to fan experience include digital video screens, improved seating and wireless access throughout the facility.
The pylon removed Monday had been in place since 1994.
