Illinois Company Considering Valpo Property Purchase

A company in Illinois is looking to acquire land at the Eastport Centre business park in Valparaiso. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the company, which is not yet being named, has submitted a letter of interest to purchase the 25-acre property.
Valparaiso Economic Development Director Patrick Lyp tells the publication the company has been interested in moving to Indiana for some time. He says the sale of the property could go before the city’s redevelopment commission next month.
"I’m cautiously optimistic. It is a solid prospect and would benefit the city," Lyp said.
The city acquired 40 acres of land at the business park in 2011 and has since sold about 13 acres to another company, Chester Inc. The Times says the RDC received no responses to a Request for Proposals to sell the remaining acreage, which allowed the RDC to negotiate with other prospective buyers.
