The planned Illiana Expressway has hit another snag. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the Indiana Department of Transportation has suspended work on the 48-mile toll road project, pending a decision by Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner on how his state will proceed. Last month, Rauner froze spending on all Illinois Department of transportation projects.

The 48-mile proposed toll way had received final federal approval prior to Rauner taking office.

INDOT's decision to place the project on hold was announced in a letter to Senator Rick Niemeyer (R-6) viewed by the Times of Northwest Indiana.
