ICS to Cut Ribbon on Riverside High School

Indianapolis Classical Schools will Thursday cut the ribbon on the new Riverside High School on the city’s near northwest side. The school, located at the former Heslar Naval Armory, is opening after a $10 million renovation project.

Riverside High School currently serves 300 freshman and sophomore students. ICS says a new class of freshmen will be added over the next two years and the school will ultimately have a student body of approximately 600 students in all four grades.

ICS is the parent of Herron High School and says Riverside was established due to heavy demand at Herron, which had hundreds of students on a waiting list for enrollment. The armory building had been vacant since 2015, when it was decommissioned after the departure of the Naval Reserves.

Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett will be on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony, along with various local, educational and community leaders.
