Ice Miller LLP has re-elected Steve Humke (pictured) as chief managing partner, beginning a four-year term on January 1, 2019. He will begin his second term of service with a diverse management team, which includes new managing partners Kristine Bouaichi and Michael Jordan and returning managing partner Judy Okenfuss. Marilee Springer was elected by the partnership as chair of the firm’s strategic planning committee.
The chief managing partner is elected by the partners. The managing partners are nominated by the chief managing partner and ratified by the partners.
Outgoing managing partners Richard Barnhart and John Burke and strategic planning committee chair Drew Miroff will complete their four-year terms of service on Ice Miller’s management team effective December 31.
Steven K. Humke, returning chief managing partner, acts as chief executive officer and is responsible for leading the firm’s operations and strategic direction. Prior to becoming chief managing partner in 2015, he was a corporate attorney representing entrepreneurs as well as a number of private equity firms.
Judy S. Okenfuss, returning managing partner, is chair of the Internet of Things industry group and a partner in the litigation group. she focuses her practice defending and advising manufacturers, distributers, and retailers in a variety of matters including litigation, such as class actions, traditional product liability matters, warranty matters, indemnification claims, and supply chain issues. Okenfuss also works with companies to identify potential risks and develop solutions to address these risks, through contractual methods, insurance, risk assessments, and other approaches.
Kristine J. Bouaichi, managing partner, currently serves as chair of the trusts and estates group and the women’s initiative steering committee. Her primary practice concentrations are in trust and estate planning and administration, wealth succession counseling and charitable giving. Bouaichi works with high-net-worth families, entrepreneurs and other persons of influence in the community on a wide range of trust and estate and personal planning matters.
Michael S. Jordan, managing partner, is a partner in the business group, with a primary area of concentration in alternative investments. He represents a wide variety of institutional investors such as public retirement systems and other governmental entities, national banks, corporate pension plans, college and university endowments, insurance companies, investment advisers, trade associations, family offices and high net worth investors in all aspects of their alternative investments programs.
Marilee J. Springer, strategic planning committee chair, concentrates her practice on the representation of tax-exempt organizations, donors and governmental entities and affiliates. In this capacity, she focuses on corporate, structuring, governance and tax issues. Springer’s dedicated service in the public sector provides valuable insights and knowledge that benefit tax-exempt and governmental entities. Her practice frequently sits at the intersection of her for-profit and philanthropic clients, where she advises clients on corporate social responsibility programs, social impact investments and sophisticated grants and mission-related investments. Springer also serves as chair of the internal attorney coaching committee.
