Vincennes University President Dick Helton and the President of Hurco Companies, Inc., Gregory S. Volovic, will announce a partnership that will help close the skills gap in manufacturing and increase awareness of the many benefits a career in manufacturing provides, with special focus on the technological aspect of precision machining education.
Indiana manufacturers need skilled employees now – and more will be needed in the future.
* Indiana ranks #1 in the nation for the percentage of the population employed by the manufacturing sector (16.7%).[a]
* Indiana ranks #2 in the nation for the percentage of gross state product attributed to the manufacturing sector (26.7%).[a]
* The average starting salary for Vincennes University Precision Machining graduates is in the $40,000 to $50,000 range.[b]
