The school says the institute will allow high school students to study and ask questions about theology and faith.
The institute will include three stages. The first will involve high school juniors and seniors taking part in an eight-day institute at Huntington including theological reading, mentoring and service. The second stage calls on students to work with local pastors and participate in community service projects. The third stage is an immersive institute that the school says will be held "in an international environment alongside ministry partners." The program will launch in the summer of 2017.
Huntington is one of nine Indiana schools to receive funding through Lilly Endowment’s High School Youth Theology Institutes initiative. The others are Goshen College, Holy Cross College, Indiana Wesleyan University, Marian University, Saint Mary’s College, Taylor University, University of Saint Francis and Wabash College.
