Huntington, Jackson county orgs crowdfunding projects

Organizers of two projects are seeking matching funding from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority to build an outdoor classroom in Huntington County and pickleball courts in Jackson County.
The agency’s CreatINg Places program provides a matching grant of up to $50,000 if the projects hit their crowdfunding goal on Patronicity. The program is open to not-for-profits and local governments, and eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000.
Flint Springs Elementary outdoor classroom
Flint Springs Elementary students could have a new educational outdoor classroom if the Huntington County Community Foundation, Inc.’s $30,000 crowdfunding campaign is successful.
The classroom would be on the grounds of the school and would be used for instruction, brain breaks and school events.
“We are so excited and thankful for this opportunity to provide an additional area on our campus for students to learn, collaborate and escape the heat,” BreAnne Dyer, Principal of Flint Springs Elementary School, said in a news release. “This is an investment that will be utilized daily and will be a great space for our Flint Springs families and our entire community.”
If the campaign reaches its goal before April 8, it will receive a matching grant from the CreatINg Places program, totaling at least $60,000 for the project. As of Tuesday afternoon, nine people have donated a total of $3,865.
Brownstown Pickleball Courts

The Community Foundation of Jackson County is crowdfunding $15,000 to install four outdoor pickleball courts at Brownstown Town Park.
“Pickleball is a sport that promotes physical activity, camaraderie and a sense of community,” Angela Sibrel of the Brownstown Pickeball Association said in a news release. “By supporting this campaign, you are not only contributing to the creation of a recreational space but also fostering a healthier and more connected community.”
If the campaign reaches its goal before April 7, it will receive a matching grant from the CreatINg Places program, totaling at least $30,000 for the project. As of Tuesday afternoon, 24 people have donated a total of $9,325.
The IHCDA says its projects in the CreatINg Places program have raised more than $10.3 million in public funds and $8.7 million in matching funds since its inception in 2016.
