More than 230 acres of farmland in Huntington County have sold at auction for nearly $1.7 million. Wabash-based Halderman Farm Management & Real Estate Services, who handled the auction, says the highest price paid per acre was for 154 acres that went for $1.2 million.
The sale of the majority of the acreage came to $7,936 per acre. The remaining 78 acres were sold to a different buyer for $465,000, or $5,945 per acre. Pat Karst with Halderman Real Estate called the bidding at the auction competitive, which pushed up the prices.
"A lot of people attended this sale and we had several bidders interested in the property." said Karst. "This was a fantastic example of how our multi-parcel auction process helps sellers achieve top dollar in the marketplace and allows bidders to buy the parcels they want."
