KENTLAND, Ind. – Approximately 637 acres of highly productive Newton County farmland will be offered at auction Tuesday, Feb. 18, with Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company conducting the auction.
“This land is virtually all tillable, with excellent soils. The majority of the land – approximately 517 acres – is located along 600 South. This includes tracts of 219 acres and 292 acres that yielded 204 bushels per acre in 2013. These are tiled with a good drainage outlet,” said R.D. Schrader, president of the auction company.
“A six-acre adjacent tract has a five-bedroom house, a second house, and grain storage providing a combined capacity of 77,700 bushels. With our bidding system, bidders may bid on any of these tracts individually, or someone can combine those three tracts and have a complete farm operation,” said Schrader.
“The 120 acres to the north, along 500 South, is also very productive, with a yield of 189 bushels per acre in 2013,” said Schrader. That land will be offered in tracts of 80 acres and 40 acres.
Schrader personnel will be available to accommodate inspections and provide information from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 Central Standard Time (4 to 6 EST). The auction will begin at 5 p.m. Central Standard time (6 EST) Tuesday, Feb. 18, in the gymnasium of South Newton Elementary School in Kentland.
