Indiana House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) has released House standing committee chair appointments and leadership positions for the upcoming session of the Indiana General Assembly. The appointments include the Republican caucus for the House Ways and Means Committee.
The committee appointments include new chairs such as Rep. Doug Gutwein (R-Francesville) for environmental affairs, Rep. Martin Carbaugh (R-Fort Wayne) for financial institutions and insurance, Rep. Doug Miller (R-Elkhart) for government and regulatory reform, Rep. Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) for public health and Rep. Jim Pressel (R-Rolling Prairie) for roads and transportation.
Among the leadership appointments, Rep. Mike Karickhoff (R-Kokomo) returns as speaker pro tempore. Rep. Matt Lehman (R-Berne) returns as majority floor leader. Rep. Greg Steuerwald (R-Avon) continues as majority caucus chair and Rep. Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) returns as majority whip.
“We have a robust legislative agenda to tackle this session and I am excited about working with the many talented leaders who serve on our House Republican team,” Huston said in a news release. “Our committees are often tasked with heavy policy lifts as we thoughtfully and carefully vet issues and ultimately pass bills that support a better Indiana. I am grateful that we can lean on our deep bench of experienced lawmakers to help lead this important work.”
Huston says he plans to announce the full standing committee assignments in the coming weeks. You can view the full committee chair appointments and leadership positions list in the document below or by clicking here.
