Indiana University Health Arnett in Lafayette is detailing $2 million in improvements. The work is set to begin Monday and involves renovations to its cancer center. May 16, 2014

News Release

LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Indiana University Health Arnett is pleased to announce plans to renovate its 25,000-square-foot Cancer Center located at 420 N. 26th Street, Lafayette. Construction partner for the project, Kettlehut Construction, will begin renovations on May 19.

As part of a statewide, comprehensive cancer team, The IU Health Arnett Cancer Center will offer three core benefits for potential patients and referring physicians:

1. Clinical/research collaboration: A partnership between The Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center and IU School of Medicine, the IU Health Arnett Cancer Center will combine leading-edge clinical treatments with the latest research findings to deliver preeminent cancer care to patients in North Central Indiana.

2. Care coordination: The IU Health Arnett Cancer Center will serve as a convenient source of comprehensive, well-coordinated care for patients.

3. Current technology: Experts have access to the state’s most advanced technologies to treat the full range of cancer conditions.

“The IU Health Arnett Cancer Center is part of North Central Indiana's largest and most comprehensive cancer program. We provide comprehensive, best-in-class care for cancer services and have the expertise to deliver care not available elsewhere in North Central Indiana,” Dr. Thomas Meyer, Division Director of Medical Specialties at IU Health Arnett says. “We have a responsibility to ensure that residents in our area have access to the leading-edge care. Because of this, we are reinvesting nearly $2 million into the existing building and thus the surrounding Columbian Park neighborhood.”

The Cancer Center will remain opening during construction and care will continue through the various phases of the renovation. Precautions will be made to ensure patient safety and comfort are the top priorities.

The center will be refreshed with new furniture and contemporary d?cor, providing patients and families with a comfortable, soothing environment in which to receive care

The building originally opened in 1998 as the Oncology Institute of Greater Lafayette. It was created by a partnership of Arnett Clinic and North Central Health Services as a regional comprehensive cancer treatment center. Renovations are slated to be complete in December 2014.
