Two Indiana schools are ranked among the best colleges for veteran, active-duty and military dependent students. The Military Times Best: Colleges 2018 rankings are determined by a survey that assesses the veteran and military student services and rates of academic achievement of more than 600 colleges throughout the country.

The rankings were split into four categories: four-year schools, two-year schools, online & nontraditional schools, and career & technical schools. Vincennes University ranks sixth on the list of two-year schools. The university cites its Military Education Program, which has served more than 75,000 military service members and offers programs and multiple military installations, as the main force behind its ranking.

Central Community College – Nebraska tops the two-year schools list, followed by Tarrant County College Trinity River Campus in Texas and Northwestern Michigan College. You can view the full rankings by clicking here.

The University of Evansville ranks 139th on the list of four-year schools as well. That list is led by D’Youville College in New York, followed by the University of South Florida, and Armstrong State University in Georgia. You can connect to the full list by clicking here.

The Military Times says its annual survey evaluates a number of factors that help make higher education "a good fit for service members, military veterans and their families." Some of the factors include university culture, academic quality and outcomes, policies, student support, and cost & financial aid.

The publication also uses data from the federal Education, Defense and Veterans Affairs departments in its rankings. You can view more about the methodology behind the rankings by clicking here.
