The state is looking to support Indiana pie makers ahead of Pi Day on March 14. The Indiana Destination Development Corp. is encouraging Hoosiers to blaze the Hoosier Pie Trail from ‘Pie Day-to-Pi Day’ with the Indiana Culinary Trails Passport.
The department says anyone who checks in at two restaurants on the Hoosier Pie Trail will earn a custom t-shirt and be entered to win free pie for a year from Mrs. Wick’s Pie. Winners will also receive a VIP tour of Mrs. Wick’s Pie’s Winchester factory.
“While the sugar cream pie is considered the unofficial state pie, Hoosier bakers enjoy making a wide variety of pies in their kitchens,” said Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch. “Pie Day to Pi Day is a great opportunity to taste some of the best pies in Indiana.”
The Indiana Foodways Alliance includes 24 restaurants on the trail. The contest runs through March 14, or Pi Day.
