The rankings were determined from results of a more than 200-question survey which, among other items, measured "initiatives to hire, retain and promote women, minorities, people with disabilities, LGBT and veterans."
Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE: LLY) ranks the highest among Hoosier companies at number 16. Anthem Inc. (NYSE: ANTM), also based in Indy, follows at number 20, while Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) ranks at number 21.
The publication says the survey "tracks human capital outcomes and connects them with best practices utilized to promote the advancement of underrepresented groups in the workplace." It also tracks the demographics of primary and secondary supplier diversity outside of the employers’ internal work force.
