Forbes is out with its annual list of “America’s Best Banks,” and three Indiana financial institutions are included.

The publication ranks the top 100 publicly traded banks based on 10 metrics measuring growth, credit quality and profitability over the last year. Those metrics include net interest margin, return on average assets, and operating revenue growth.

Jasper-based German American Bank is ranked No. 2 on this year’s list.

“This recognition is a testament to our entire German American team of professionals who are passionate, dedicated and work hard every day to support each other, our customers, our communities and our shareholders.” German American CEO Neil Dauby said in a news release. “Such an exceptionally high ranking demonstrates our Company’s financial focus, strength and stability.”

South Bend-based 1st Source Bank is ranked No. 26, followed by Lake City Bank in Warsaw at No. 45.

North Carolina-based Southern BancShares tops this year’s list. The top five is rounded out by First Financial Bankshares in Texas, Wisconsin-based Bank First, and West Virginia-based City Holding.
