A high school basketball rivalry that dates back to the early 1960s will end tonight. Central High School will take on Southside High School for the final time in Muncie. The Muncie Community School Corp. is closing Southside because of budget issues. The game will be broadcast on WLBC in Muncie. Morry Mannies, who recently retired after more than six decades as the “Voice of Ball State Sports,” will have the call.

The first game between the schools was in 1963. The Star Press reports Central won that game 76 to 63.

Special pregame ceremonies will involve former players from the cross-town rivalry.
