Hoops Hall Selects Men’s Class of 2016

Subscribe NowFourteen players, coaches and contributors to boys basketball in the state will be enshrined this year in the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in New Castle. The 2017 men’s induction class includes a first-overall draft pick in the NBA, two NCAA champions and a world-renowned astronomer.
This year is the 56th men’s class that will enter the hall. Two former players, Alan Henderson and Glenn Robinson, made it in on their first year of eligibility. Only Steve Alford, Damon Bailey, Kent Benson, Larry Bird, Dave Colescott, Kyle Macy, George McGinnis, Rick Mount and Oscar Robertson have been selected in the same fashion before.
The inductees, including their high school and graduation year, are:
- Edward "Jingles" Engelhart – Washington,1930
- Bill Hampton – Crispus Attucks, 1955
- Alan Henderson – Brebeuf, 1991
- Phil Isenbarger – Muncie North, 1977
- Jim Lyttle – North Dearborn, 1964
- Herb McPherson – Mississinewa, 1962
- Bob Reinhart – Dale, 1957
- Steve Risley – Lawrence Central, 1977
- Glenn Robinson – Gary Roosevelt, 1991
- Dave Sanders – Sheridan, 1961
- Al Tucker – Patricksburg, 1957
- Matt Waddell – Tipton, 1990
- Indiana Pacers Silver Medal: Ron Newlin – Tippecanoe Valley, 1976
- Centennial Award – Edwin Hubble
