Governor Eric Holcomb will take part in the 2018 SelectUSA Investment Summit beginning today in Washington D.C. Holcomb will participate in meetings with business leaders and give a presentation on Indiana’s Next Level Jobs workforce initiative during the two-day event.

The summit is part of a U.S. Department of Commerce program focused on bringing more business investment to the United States. The fifth annual event will include business leaders in sectors including advanced manufacturing, infrastructure and energy. Topics will include tax and regulatory reform, trade, infrastructure and workforce development.

Indiana’s delegation will also include Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger, Indiana Economic Development Corp. President Elaine Bedel and other economic development leaders from throughout the state.

The state says Indiana is home to more than 950 foreign-owned businesses, supporting nearly 200,000 jobs. That gives Indiana the highest percentage of private sector jobs coming from foreign-owned firms in the Midwest. Companies with some of the largest employee roles in the state include Indiana-based Infosys, China-based SF Motors and Israel-based MCP USA.

Last year’s summit drew more than 3,000 participants from throughout the United States.
