Governor Eric Holcomb has selected Michael McMains (pictured) to serve as chairman of the Indiana Gaming Commission. McMains succeeds Cris Johnson, who resigned from the position to become deputy chief of staff for Holcomb.

McMains is an attorney who from 2010 to 2017 served on the staff of then-U.S. Senator Dan Coats. He held roles during that time including state director and senior counsel for Coats.

"I got to know Mike when he served as state director for then-Sen. Dan Coats," Holcomb said in a news release. "He is thoughtful, hard-working and has great integrity. I have total confidence in him to lead this commission well."

Holcomb reappointed Johnston to the commission in September. His term was set to expire in 2020.
