Eric Holcomb has announced he is running for U.S. Senate. The former Indiana Republican Party Chairman made the announcement Thursday in Indianapolis and hopes to succeed Dan Coats (R-IN). A new website says “Holcomb Senate 16 Paid for by Eric Holcomb for Indiana.”

On Wednesday, Holcomb, a top aide for Coats submitted his resignation. He made the announcement Wednesday, one day after Coats announced he will not seek re-election in 2016.

Holcomb has been receiving encouragement from supporters throughout the state to run for Senate.
