The declaration will allow the Department of Homeland Security to provide expanded emergency services and will help the state in its request for federal disaster assistance.
Holcomb signed an executive order Monday adding Benton, Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Jefferson, Spencer, and Warrick counties to the declaration. They are added to the list initially announced over the weekend, which included Carroll, Dearborn, Elkhart, Fulton, Lake, Marshall, Perry, St. Joseph, Starke, Switzerland, and White counties.
The State Emergency Operations Center was activated last Thursday and has since delivered more than 700,000 sandbags, two water pumps, heavy equipment and vehicles, labor crews and more assistance to help deal with the flooding. Holcomb’s office says the EOC will continue to monitor the situation and provide support as needed throughout the state.
