Hogsett’s office says the announcement will center on the "implementation of programming designed to support workers and spur economic growth."
Carrier last week began the first round of layoffs from its Indianapolis manufacturing facility with 338 employees being let go. By the end of the year, more than 630 employees will be out of work.
The jobs that are going away were not part of the deal announced in late November by President-elect Donald Trump to keep the Indianapolis plant open and retain 800 jobs. The employees affected by the layoffs are part of Carrier’s fan coil manufacturing production line, which is being moved to Mexico.
Last year, Hogsett created the Carrier Task Force dedicated to assisting employees affected by the company’s decision. Wednesday’s announcement, set to begin at 10:40 a.m., will involve the task force’s efforts.
