Hogsett Launches Data Portal

Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett has launched a data portal which aims to increase transparency and access to information. OpenIndy is described as a "one stop shop" for contracts, ethics filings, campaign finance reports, crime statistics, budgets and other public documents.

Hogsett’s office says the goal is to improve overall accountability in city government. 

"Citizens of Indianapolis have a right to know how their officials are conducting city business," said Hogsett. "The new OpenIndy portal will allow residents to explore municipal data and gain insight into how our city is spending money, making deals, addressing challenges facing the community, and more. In a world of increased connectivity, local government should be taking every opportunity to increase participation, collaboration and transparency with the residents of Indianapolis."

Hogsett’s office says the website will make finding public filings easier with regular updates from every city department. The site will also include documents related to county and township business.
