The city says projects were selected through a committee made up of leaders from the city, nonprofit, and business communities.
HUD determines the grant amounts based on census data and reporting from city service providers.
“These projects will advance equity and enhance quality of life for residents across our city,” said Hogsett. “This federal investment will make a critical difference in the expansion of affordable housing, key neighborhood infrastructure, and social services.”
Some of the projects are listed below:
- Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership Owner-Occupied Repair Program: INHP will provide essential home repairs city-wide to at least 40 80% AMI and below households.
- Riley Development Corp’s Davlan & Seminole: HOME funding for the rehabilitation of 60+ residential units. This investment will help preserve dozens of affordable units in and near Downtown Indianapolis for decades to come.
- Southeast Neighborhood Development Inc. Homeownership in Norwood: 4 new construction single family homes available to households below 80% AMI in the Norwood neighborhood. SEND will work in partnership with INHP to develop 3 additional affordable units for a total of 7 units developed in the neighborhood.
