Hobart Mayor Brian Snedecor announced a $60 million equipment addition and operations expansion by candy company Albanese during his state of the city address last week. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report he also said Wynright Corp, a provider of material handling systems, is slated to hire 540 people following its own expansion.
Albanese is seeking a traditional 10-year personal property tax abatement for its equipment expansion. The city council has given initial approval to the request and final authorization could be granted at a public hearing at the beginning of April.
According to the publication, Wynright Corp is creating a new 320,400-square-foot industrial building in the NorthWind Crossings business park. The company says it will hire manufacturing, engineering and administrative workers when it opens near the end of 2019.
