The report from the Lewin Group also suggests more than 85 percent of members who made contributions to their health savings accounts between February 2015-February 2016 reported being satisfied with the program.
The evaluation reports nearly 7 our of 10 first-year members made contributions into their POWER (health savings) accounts. Also, it showed, after making an initial contribution, more than 90 percent of those surveyed continued to make contributions throughout the year.
Governor Mike Pence says he’s pleased with the results. In a release, he said, "HIP 2.0 should serve as a national model for how state-led reforms can actually accomplish what national health care reform has failed to do. We can provide financially sustainable health care to low-income populations that will actually lead to healthier lives."
Indiana University Health Chief Executive Officer Dennis Murphy says the system is "pleased by the progress and potential of HIP 2.0 and its ability to support low-income, hardworking Hoosiers in managing their health care needs and costs."
The state says HIP 2.0 has more than 390,000 members. It’s available to all non-disabled Hoosiers age 19-64 with incomes at or below 138 percent of the federal poverty level. You can see the Lewin Group’s report by clicking here.
