Community Kickoff Invitation

MATER DEI HIGH SCHOOL has always enjoyed the involvement and commitment of community members who give their time, talent and treasure for the betterment of our students. The Full of Grace: Excellence for Tomorrow Capital Campaign is no exception. More than 75 individuals and couples have come together to lead this campaign.

We are grateful to them for their spirit and enthusiasm as we enter into a new era at Mater Dei High School.

THE PROJECTS: $4.6 MILLION GOAL

Projects and programs identified for capital improvements in the Full of Grace Capital Campaign are the result of long range planning, extensive interviews and research, and the educational, social and spiritual priorities of Mater Dei High School.

ACADEMICS: $705,000

At Mater Dei High School, the importance of academics and life-long learning is stressed every day. Annually, the greatest percentage of our finances is spent on the salaries and benefits of the faculty and staff – they are one of the key components to our student success. Previous campaigns have provided for a six-classroom Science Center, Business & Technology Centers and a Main Office Suite. The Full of Grace Capital Campaign will build upon these improvements.

Media Center expansion and renovation

Resource Program expansion and renovation

Technology hardware, software and infrastructure improvements

Teach Advancement Fund

Art Department Renovation

FACILITIES: $1,030,000

Mater Dei High School, designed and constructed in the late 1940s, prides herself on the extended use of materials and facilities well beyond the time when other institutions would rebuild or replace. In time, new research and technology can enable a new project to actually reduce fixed costs, improve efficiency and enhance safety and aesthetics. This campaign offers Mater Dei an opportunity to improve on the function, efficiency and form of the facilities and areas we use such as:

Public and Student Restroom renovations and additions

Main boys and girls restroom renovation

New handicap accessible restrooms on the Main Gymnasium ground floor

Campus entrance enhancement

Redesigned campus drive in/out Harmony Way

Convent and housing removal

Energy efficient indoor lighting, HVAC sensors

New kitchen appliances

Additional outdoor lighting and surveillance system

Telecommunication system replacement

Main Parking Lot utility improvements: Storm drainage system repair and replacement; Power line burial; New transformer

SPIRITUALITY: Circle of Faith Prayer Garden

The Circle of Faith Prayer Garden is an extension of the Msgr. Wolf Chapel and will be a visual and spiritual reminder of the foundation of faith at Mater Dei High School. Located on the northeast side of the building, the circular design will follow the curve of the walkway to the NE corner and Main entrance to school. Four areas, or quattuors, will fit together forming a pathway and seated area, and will provide space for commemorative honors. Trees and foliage will create a quiet and reflective spot for students and adults alike.

SOCIAL & EXTRACURRICULAR: $2,365,000

The opportunity to teach and learn in not only limited to the classroom, but extends to the practice and playing fields. At Mater Dei High School, more than 4 out of 5 students participate in an atheltic activity. If extracurricular activities are included, the number increases to 9 out of 10 students. Factor in active and growing feeder school level participation, and the number of students affected in this areas expands exponentially. For the first time, athletics, extracurricular and campus green space functions will be addressed in a capital campaign. The projects will be enhanced by the Full of Grace: Excellence for Tomorrow campaign through:

On Campus (inside)

Auxiliary Gymnasium renovation

Boys and Girls Locker Rooms renovation

On Campus (outside)

Dedicated Baseball Field

Dedicated Football Field

Multi-purpose artificial turf on football field. Auxiliary (and year-round) use for teams, physical education classes; activities such as soccer, lacrosse, softball, baseball, band, etc.

New Six-Court Tennis Center

New southwest Side Athletic Fields (two) and sprinkler system

Site preparation for Visionary Track & Field project and Field House

Off Campus

Moutoux Soccer Field Improvements

TUITION ASSISTANCE: $500,000

Mater Dei High School was creasted for the students and families wishing to experience and benefit from a Catholic high school education. Catholic education is one of the primary ways we can grow in faith as individuals, families and as a Church. To offer this opportunity to everyone, sometimes assistance is necessary. In 2012-2013 more than $200,000 in tuition assistance was provided to 80 student recipients (16% of student body) at Mater Dei. The Tuition Assistance Fund will increase the resources available to assist more families who wish to attend Mater Dei High School.

HOW CAN I HELP?
