Indianapolis-based hhgregg Inc. has promoted Kevin Kovacs to chief financial officer and Sam Johnson to chief retail officer. Kovacs succeeds Robert Riesbeck as CFO, following Riesbeck’s recent appointment as president and chief executive officer. Kovacs previously served as vice president and controller for the company. Johnson previously served as senior vice president of stores. In his new role with hhgregg, Johnson will be responsible for store operations and customer relations, as well as real estate and visual merchandising, among others. Before joining hhgregg, Kovacs served as director of tax and treasury for Indianapolis-based Steak n Shake, while Johnson served as vice president of small stores for Illinois-based Sears Holdings Corp.
