Brandye Hendrickson, the former commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation, has been named a deputy administrator with the Federal Highway Administration.
Governor Eric Holcomb appointed Hendrickson to the INSPD position in January. She spent two years leading INDOT after being appointed to that position in 2015 by then-Governor Mike Pence.
"Over nearly 20 years, Brandye has been a dedicated public servant and an exceptional leader for both the Indiana Department of Transportation and the State Personnel Department," Holcomb said in a news release. "Indiana’s loss is our nation’s gain, and it’s a testament to the quality of our state’s leaders that President Trump continues to pool his talent from the Hoosier state."
In total, Hendrickson has spent 18 years in various positions within the state government, including six years as human resources director for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
Britni Saunders, deputy director of talent management for the INSPD, will serve as interim director following Hendrickson’s departure. Holcomb’s office says the governor will appoint a permanent successor in the coming weeks.
