Heartland Film in Indianapolis has named Craig Prater president. He most recently served as executive vice president of strategic partnerships for the San Diego International Film Festival and director of the San Diego Jewish Film Festival. Prater’s experience includes leadership roles with film festivals in California and Thailand. Prater co-founded the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films and the Film Noir Festival in Palm Springs, California before being recruited by the Royal Thai government to head up the Bangkok International Film Festival. Prater succeeds Stuart Lowry, who announced in December that he was leaving the organization for personal reasons. The 25th annual Heartland Film Festival is scheduled for October 20-30 throughout Indianapolis.
